Year 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to our new class page.

This Friday is Enterprise Day. Every class has made something to sell and the proceeds will all go to the Caritas Advent Appeal. We look forward to seeing you there.

Music – We will be using Charanga and learning some Christmas songs.

PSHE – We will be beginning work from the new Ten Ten curriculum.

PE -  Our PE  will be Gymnastics and racket skills.

Homework

The homework will be set each week each Friday to be completed by the following Wednesday. We will send spellings, a literacy or comprehension sheet and a maths sheet. There will be a weekly spelling and times tables test every Thursday and a maths sheet that will focus on the maths topic we have been covering this week.

Reading Books

We will send home weekly reading books. The children have a specific reading day on which they are to bring their reading book in.  The expectation is that children in Year 2 should read at home every day. A record of this can be kept in the children’s reading record. We are aiming to foster a love of reading in the children.

Please, whenever possible, read to your children. They will absolutely love this and they enjoy being a regular reader.

P.E. kits

Children will need to come to school in their P.E. kits every Tuesday and Wednesday.

They MUST have the correct P.E. kit for outdoor games – a plain white t-shirt, black or blue shorts (or plain tracksuit bottoms and top when it gets colder).

TTRockstars

Dear Parents/Carers,

Your child should have a Login for Times Tables Rockstars home. This is a brilliant and fun way for your child to work on their times tables at home. Please encourage your children to use this on a regular basis as part of their homework.

If you have any questions please ask a member of staff from Year 2 and they will try to help you.

Thanks

Mrs Corcoran
